HQI vs Mogul base

Is there a difference between the two? Is the watt per watt equivalent?

Additionally does anyone know what the depth penetration on a 175 hqi is?

you can run a mogul ended bulb off of an HQI ballast... it just overdrives them
double ended bulbs need the HQI or the new style eletronic ballast....quite a few choices!

Max, I have run both 250w mogul bulbs overdriven on a HQI electronic ballast and DE bulbs on the same pho ballast and like the DE's much better. Better par value, bulbs may last longer, etc.

As Charlie said, just research and see what best suits you...

Well had the 150 hqi x3 but moved to 3 x 400 watt MH moguls but was wonder what the depth penetration was with the HQI.
