My Huma Trigger recently sits in the back of the tank behind the rocks and just chills he ate shrimp 2 nights ago but today won't come out to eat and doesn't swim around much. Water parameters are fine my clown is doing fine(thats all I have in the tank until this Friday) Any ideas?

how big is the tank and the huma?
has anything changed recently? salt, food, lights, supplements/vitamins etc?

5 years no I haven't Qt'd hi its only him and a clown in the 120 for now. I am going to move the rock to get him to come out tonight and swim around and see if he'll eat. I will test teh water again but I tested it 2 days ago and parameters are ideal.

if this is new behavior and you have had him for 5 years something changed to make him unhappy...are all filters clean and working 100%?? what kind of system are you running?

Just cleaned it after he was unhappy. The clown is doing good. I might just net him since I don't have QT tank and see if he will eat. I can't figure it out. Good water parameters after cleaning (I only have 2 fish and don't go crazy feeding so the water has been good during tests) as I add bioload I know that will change but what makes him all of a sudden go into shy mode.

something is clearly making him unhappy...something in the tank is upsetting him...you didnt totally clean out the filters did you?

would recommend dr tim's one and only if you chose that route...dr tim's wont hurt the tank....but you still need to find out the underlying cause...all returns are functioning at 100%? make sure nothing is clogged...

no I didn't totally clean them all out maybe I will add some cycle to get more bacteria in there?

If params are "fine", why even consider this? "Fine'" means that the bacteria is doing its job. Even though Dr. Tim's miracle Stuff seems to get better reviews than most similar products (most have been dismal failures, IMO) I wouldn't add it to a tank with a fully-functioning bio-filter. Many of these products can actually compete with (and eliminate) natural bacteria.

As to your Huma, I doubt he's just "unhappy"; he's probably got a physical problem that can't be diagnosed. My Huma is about 7" and would eat any small species of clownfish. is this guy getting enough meaty stuff to eat?

Dr tims will not affect the bio-filter...
If I had a "phyiscal problem" it would make me unhappy and I would act different...
He needs to find the underlying cause that is clearly causing this fish to behave different than it has been...
Not all trigs are created equally..thus, not all 7 inch Humas will eat a smaller fish...

doesnt surprise me that he is turning down algea (?) did you mean nori??? or lettuce...he should not be turning down mysis, shrimp etc...they do eat nori etc but if he is refusing meaty foods it is an issue...
