humidity issues

i have a large tank and wet room project that will probably kick off in the fall. i plan to have a large tank in addition to several large refugiums, sump, frag tank etc. all of these including the display will be in the basement. the one problem that is really eating at me is the humidity issue. i cant figure out what to do. is opening a few small windows in the basement enough? ive heard dehumidifiers are useless because they cause rapid evaporation in the tanks and cost a ton to run. and what about under the canopy? i dont want condensation forming around the lighting. what should i do BEFORE i start this project to make sure i wont have humidity issues?

put 2 windows in the room to allow for circulation that will handle the problem... if you cant do 2 windows put a couple of exhaust fans in the room

I dunno your situation in OH. My tank is very, very open in a relatively large living room. I was getting a lot of condensation on my windows and the room "felt" swampy. I bought a dehumidifier and voila! All better now. A relatively cheap sears unit.

Enclose the wetroom in plastic sheathing, install an AC unit, close the door. You're done. ;)

what about under the canpoy? im affraid of getting condensation around and on the fixtures and the wiring. i plan to have a completely enclosed wood canopy.

How large will the tank be?
How large of a system?
We had a local LFS enclose their fish room. The intention was to allow the room to level off at it's own humidity level
I have plans to do the same at some point

display will be 9'x6'x30" all glass. it will be a peninsula style tank and the wet room will be behind the wall that the tank is touching. in the wet room there will be roughly 2,000g of sump, fuges, frag tanks etc.

Uhm, you probably won't have much of a problem in the canopy itself. Maybe a couple small fans to keep the air moving ya know?

The wet room however....
