Made ya look anyway :)

But serously, here is my crocea that has taken on a maxima growth pattern. I found it really neat! anyone ever seen something like this before?

The bottom part of the shell is flat like a crocea, it was all like that when I got it, as it grew in my tank it grew with the ridges.

The shell looks like a Crocea, but you would have to look at the bottom to see if it's like a maxima. A Maxima is narrower.

Croceas actually have flutes but they break off in the wild from the clam burrowing down into crevices in the reef. Sweet clam, I know we will se some hybrids here in the near future. :)

hybridization of clams is currently a proposed theory. Not proven at all to even be biologically possible. Like Stony said, all croceas grow shells with those ridges- in the wild, they are shorn off by the burrowing. However, in out tanks, we get to see it happen. Many captive farms croceas arrive at stores with these flutes also.

Thats very interesting to know they grow the ridges in the wild too...

Just found out last night while taking this pic that those ridges are perfect homes for baby turbo snails. Thought they were pyrimids at first & flipped out. Upon further inspection, baby turbos :D and alot
