Hydnophora question

I picked up a hynophora frag yesterday. Polyps are all extended and all looks well so far. I have read that they will readily accept larger foods. Do I need to be target feeding? Also why would this coral look so great and a frag of acro I have be all brown and have hardly any polyp extension? I will get some pictures Tuesday when I get my new camera.

I have grown a large colony, I target feed it cyclops daily, and it catches the odd mysis shrimp from the fish feeding

It is about 14" across

I don't worry too much about target feeding mine. I dose the tank with mysis and cyclopese and let things fall where they may. My 2 hydnophora colonies always seem to snag something.

Hydnos are a hardy stony coral. They seem to be act more like a softies in its water quality requirements IME. Your tank may be right for softies but not for acros yet.
