Hydor Koralia Price Increase @ Doc's Foster & Smith

Why are you getting so bent out of shape over this? Just buy from someone else. They have the choice of pricing them as they wish, just like you have the choice to buy from them or not.

Dr. F & S is not my first choice for dry goods, but occasionally will order from them on certain things. Never had a problem with them.
 
Is it possible Dr Fosters sold their first shipment and were hit with the price increase on the second shipment while the other stores are still selling their first shipment?
 
I have several (7) Hydor heaters and if these pumps are of the same quality, people are going to be really dissapointed. Not a single one of my heaters works the way it should...not one! Hydor was kind enough to replace them, but the replacements dont work right either. You couldn't pay me to take one of those pumps based on my experiece with thier manufacturing quality.

Hopefully your experience is better.
 
klasiksb I realize that I can buy from other dealers...it's just one of the things that gets me riled up when I see a big company try and screw the average consumer, again...I'm not saying Doc's F&S is doing this but until I see some more evidence to support their plight that Hydor upped the prices on them most of the evidence is making it look like they are just raising their prices because it's a hot item and they know they can get more money for them then they originally charged which I feel is unethical! I have no problem with setting a higher price to begin with and see if you can get it but I don't believe in starting off selling a product at one price, seeing people snap them up and deciding to raise the price to make more money...I say if you start selling a product at a certain price you owe it to the consumer to be consistent with your pricing unless the cost of the product wholesale to you or if you are the manufacturer the cost to produce your product has risen then price accordingly! I think I've contributed enough to this post, it just peeved me when I found this out and thought I should make other's aware of this increase. In the end if you are interested in buying one of these powerheads (as I am) it is certainly up to you where you purchase it from and if you are a loyal Doc's F&S customer and this price increase doesn't bother you then by all means go ahead and support your favorite online aquarium supply store...it's your choice!!! If you're like klasiksb apparently is and sick of reading this post and hearing me complain the choice is simple...don't read it!!!

It is a fact that the manufacturer raised their price. You are free to choose who you do business with and that is the beauty of this hobby. I would urge all of you to utilize the company of your choice. You should compare prices as well as selection and customer service. You have many quality ReefCentral sponsors to select from. Quite frankly, I would feel comfortable with most of them.

Dr. Foster I appreciate your attention to this post, I always like to have the accused...innocent or not...speak for themselves and explain their side of the story so that all may judge for themselves! I have heard many good things about your company and was shocked at this price increase when nobody else was increasing their prices as well...it made me a little suspicious for sure but I am glad to know that you aren't just taking advantage of a supply and demand type of situation. I commend you for recommending any of the RC sponsers and encourage people to shop around, this shows that you are confident enough in your company and your reputation as a valuable asset to the hobby that you have no need to bad mouth your competitor's...that is certainly rare nowaday's and I applaud you for that!
 
Just buy them where you find them cheaper don't we all shop around before buying things? I'm glad I got my two 4s very happy with them, I'm getting ready to get two more and the increase of 10 box is all worth it. Now if it keeps increasing that would be a problem.
 
WOW!! I am shocked that we actually got a reply from the Dr. himself. It's good to know that at least they read our post and comments on goods and service rendered to the general public. I was a first to blame them and say that a young 25yr old manager type"up and comer" would pull one of those make himself look good moves and raise the price because the demand was so high.
By the way I like that name RACE, it reminds me of Johnny Quest bodyguard Race Bannon.
 
Our price did go up from our quoted pricing. As you may guess, not everyone pays the same for product. We buy better than some of our smaller competitors and we pay more than some of the larger outlets such as Walmart. There are also buying incentives in certain distribution chains that are not in others and incentives relating to quantity and payment. Bottom line, we do not all pay the same and have across the board increases at the same time. Raynist, as a consultant, I hope that it is not in the area of economics. You seem to move from area to area bashing and had your last posts removed. Please mature into a professional player here and if you do not like our company, please refrain from using it. It is really that simple.

I shop Dr F&S a lot. They always have ongoing sales just like they do now on various other pumps, heaters and what not. It's just a matter of time before these will also go on sale. Pick them up then if you want to save more. (Don't know how long it would take to have a sale but eventually I would assume).

Guys...... Buy somewhere else... i buy 95 % of my pet products at D F&S they ususally have great prices and low cost shipping. If they raised the hydro's by 10 bucks .... and PA has them at the old price.... buy them at PA ... lol

Also, if you freak out over a 10 dollar product increase...this hobby is not for you.

It isn't about the $10, as you said, if $10 freaks you out then you have no business in this hobby. It is more about a 20% price increase in a week at a time when this thing is in high demand. If there really was a price increase fine, but on the surface it looks differently since all the other smaller stores selling it are still selling for $10 cheaper. Given the size and purchasing power of DFS I would think they would get the best price, perhaps Hydor is trying to pull one over on DFS

Interesting that my post was removed in your forum. I was not aware, and I don't remember being very harsh in the post. Maybe I didn't read the rules of that forum and criticism of the vendor is not allowed?

I asked about is there a place that has them IN STOCK.

The place that I talked to will be getting them in the coming weeks but do not have them now.
 
It is the same thing with the octopus skimmers. They came out at cheap price and then quickly went upwards of $300. No biggy it is like some said supply and demand. But you are always free to buy else where if you want. They look like good little PH I am hoping to buy 2 of #2 for a 40g breeder. Time will tell where I buy them.
 
Doe's anyone have any pic's of them compared to other pumps?

Like a Koralia, MJ w/mod, and a Tunze?

The Koralia just looks very long.
