Hydor Koralia Super-Mod

You can also put a K4 Prop in a K3 and it will increase the flow on the K3.

K4 mod:
I bought the Sureflow MJ kits and swapped the prop assembly and transfered it over to the K4 rod.

It does sometime runs backwards, but i try not to turn them off. Also on a Kilo-watt it pulls the same amount of watts. Modded and unmodded both pulled 12W.

I am sure this has been asked before but I am asking anyways. Has anybody done this on the magnums?

Google brought me to this thread, and I also need to find out if anyone tried this on the Magnum series ( I have two 8's I would love to have push out more GPH)

Plan on modding my 3 k4's this weekend!

Thank you!

hey bringing this thread back!. i was wondering if just putting a bigger prop on it will increase the flow? stock magnet just bigger prop if it can be done. also i hav k1s and k2s to mod

As long as the prop isn't substantially larger it can be done successfully.

For example, the k3 and k4 use the same magnet, just a different prop. I put the prop of a k4 into my k3, and the k3 was then putting out quite a bit more flow.

Do you happen to know if it also increased the watts? If they are the same magnet it would, as the K3 uses 6.5 and the K4 uses 8.5w.

i dont believe there are dc koralias. the controllable ones are still ac from what ive read. there is a thread out about a engineer making a controller for them and it is a ac device. but as far as the real question i dont know if anyone has tried to mod a controllable koralia for increased flow.

successful mod of a koralia 2

successful mod of a koralia 2

I know that most of these are older posts, but figured I would reply just in case anybody found this thread while researching a koralia 2 mod.

I used a Maxi-Jet Sure Flow 1600 without any issues. Trimmed the black impeller and used the Sure Flow magnet. Things are humming perfectly and the flow is much stronger.

I bought the Sure Fow Mod and then notice that it's a counterclockwise rotating prop while the Koralia is a clockwise prop....So how exactly is everyone getting this to work????

Looks like the Koralia would have to run backwards to work...I got mine to work but its very hard to get started again (backwards)

I think nowadays the SURE FLOW mods are not as great as before with all the 'commerical products' out there available now.

The same thing happened to me. When I plugged it in, the prop was spinning in the wrong direction so water was being pushed behind the unit instead of out the front. Unplugged it and plugged it in a couple of times and it just worked. I think the magnet just has to reset.

Problem is, I'm always in my tank fragging and so forth so I kills the pumps to be able to see in the water better.

I got lucky and my pump is running backwards right now, but everytime I shut it off to do some work, it seems impossible to get it started again.

I've put my hand over the output but that didn't help either.
