Hydor Koralia Super-Mod

Wow, for Model 3, $65 US plus brokerage fees to Ontario, Canada. Guess I'll have to wait to either make a trip to the US or wait for it to become available up here.

BA :eek1: Ahhhh yes. More than happy to sell you overpriced stock but not very helpful. They said it is something new and something they can't bring in yet.

I think I'm going to have it shipped to a relative in the US and then pick it up or have them ship it snailmail. I am going to try a couple of online vendors here in Canada first though.

TAG:) I like good/lower cost equipment. Lets face it, the Germans make great equipment but the price is unjustifyable to many and myself..

Any thoughts on just gluing or melting the MJ Mod impeller to the top of the K-impeller? looks like they would fit nicely right on top of it. would save the trouble of putting together a MJ Mod and could keep the magnet it comes with. and looks like there is plenty of room within the cage.

may be worth a try with glue first at least.

I believe the problem would be the stock magnet would not be strong enough to spin a larger propeller, that's why he switched to the MJ impeller.

Major Question:
Can this be hooked up to a Wave Maker/ Controler with varible speeds? Sort of like the Tunezes

They may be able to be used on a Seio controller but I'm not going to be the Guinea pig. I'm yet to hear of anyone trying them on a Seio controller. They shouldn't be used on a ON/OFF wavemaker like the Wavemaster Pro.

I just ordered 3 of the smallest ones (should arrive monday) for a couple of my prop tanks. I'm going to try them on a simple timer settup of 6 hours on/off, reversing the direction of the flow in the tank. Hopefully they'll take to that kind of an interval. I'll post results.

What size would you recomend for a 30-40gallon reef?

2 model 2 or 1 model 3 but it really depends on what corals you are keeping.

Ill have my seio controller this week sometime, and i plan on using it on my 2-Koralia 4's.I dont see why it would not work, the controller will work fine on seio's and on MJ mods.

Can you describe how you hooked yours up to a dimmer? Can you possibly show photos? You can run these on the SEIO wavemaker as it only turns the pumps down and then back up. You can't run them on one that shuts em off and on.....

Thanks
Spankey.

Maybe I missed it, but is there any documentation from Hydor that says not to run them with an on off wavemaker?

If you surf the original hydro thread that is over 18 pages long someone emailed hydor and they replied that you CAN use them on the seio wavemakers. They can NOT be ran on an on and off maker..

Hope that helps...

Does any one know of a way to make them anemone safe? They look great but I don't want my nems becoming sushi!!!

Thanks,
Aaron

You could put a gutterguard cylender around the whole body or put 2 layers to disperse suction of the pump even more.
