Hydroflo installation help for JBJ 12 DX

I have just finished installing on my JBJ 12 DX with a new Maxi Jet 900 the connector tube that runs from the pump to the outside of the tank. I have heard a lot of stories of people having problems having the round flo disk falling off. What is the best way to make sure it stays on - silicone glue? Would you just glue inside the sliding tube but no where near the impellers. Thanks for any suggestions

i use teflon tape, i picked up a roll at home depot. it's the best option i've found. wrap it around the hydor flo a few times, then jam it into the peice on the wall of the nanocube.

Thanks, that is a great option.

I understand that some people take a dremel drill and take out the outer plastic ring? Did you do that at all -- is it necessary. Was it hard to do?

Do you need to take the hydro off every couple of months to clean the impellers??

Thanks!

I did the dremel thing - just reduces the overall size and appearance of the Hydor. Has no real functional benefit as far as I can tell, just looks smaller. Was very easy to do.

I attached mine with Zap Gel superglue - same stuff you use for frag mounts. No issues for 18 months.

mine's pretty clean. some algae grew on it during the beginnings of my tank, so i'd take it off and clean it on occasion.

to take the back off, i used sharp pliers and made cuts on it towards the center, then used the same pliers to bend the peices back and forth until they came off. it turned out very clean. that was before i had a dremel
