How do i get rid of hydroids? Im putting my dwarfs in there own 5gal tank and i want to treat it so there is nothing that can hurt them. I remember reading something somewhere about putting soming in the water to kill all the bad things. What is it and how do i do it.

Fenbendazole, aka panacur. It will kill off some other inverts. For instance, worms do not tolerate it. Some snails are okay with it, some aren't. My point being take out any valuable inverts, and watch your ammonia levels in case you have significant die off.

I get the paste from farm supply stores, and use about 1/4 inch strip (it comes out like tooth paste). Put it in water, shake REALLY WELL to emulsify, and add to tank. Do a 1/3 water change 24 hours later.

I don't recall the dosage for the granules, but I'm sure you can google it.

ok thanks. Once i treat the tank will i have to treat it again? Also you said some snails are ok and some arn't will my turbo snails be ok?

You also may want to feed your dwarves with bbs from decapsultaed eggs. Brine eggs can carry hydroid cysts which can be introduced to your dwarf tank along with the bbs.

I've heard panacur can stay in your tank a long time (can leach out of the rock for years), so you may not be able to keep the effected inverts for quite a while.

I don't know if this actually works longterm, But I just cover them up with epoxy puddy from DD (pink-purple). So far;so good!

I've heard of people covering them with kalk paste, they say it nukes them. I've also heard Limpets eat them too.
