okay, is the fish not stress when you do hypo? this is day two for hypo. in the qt tank. I put them in qt because they were showing sign of ich. I have three fish in qt. sailfin tang, clown and a goby. is hypo stressfull for fish. because theyre not swimming. mostly, just staying in one place and i can see the ich is still there. how long do you think will i see the ich go away? any help?

I don't know what Hypo is copper works best but will most likely kill the tank they don't tolerate copper well. You may try lowering your salinity for about 6 to 8 weeks at least do a search for ick and read treads

Consult the fish disease treatment forum.

When I use a refractometer to get the SG to 1.009, it takes 6 weeks to perform the cure and make sure it doesn't come back.

Best of luck,

Roy

Well, Hypo does not kill ich when it is on the fish. If your SG remains at 1.009, then you should see no spots after this cycle. Be sure to use a refractometer. It should have taken 48 hrs to lower SG. Do check PH daily as this often drops during hypo and also check ammonia.
Hypo is not stressful . It is thought to actually ease stress. They are right now reacting to the ich. They will improve
I have 2 tanks right now going through Hypo. I got 3 Tangs for my new Tank and of course they all had ich. I have used copper in the past , Hypo is by far the better of the 2 treatments. My fish are doing great
Be patient, your fish will be in hypo for 4 weeks. You will soon see improvement

It took two weeks in hypo before my foxface had no sign of Ich. I would have one or two spots appear and then clear up every other day or so. It has now been over two weeks and no spots. I will go anoter week or so before bring the salinity back to normal and placing the foxface back into the main tank.
