How fast can I raise my salinity on my fish? Osc. Clown, Yellow Watchman, Three stripe damsel. I need to get it up as fast as they can handle the salt excretion process.

Thanks

? I don't understand why you need to get it up fast.... Lower salinity makes it easier to purge the salt from there system. I have 2 tanks in hypo right now and the fish seem to like it just fine.

If your fish are breathing very rapidly it is something other than the hypo causing it as long as you are not below 1.009. Ammonia poisioning is a possiable cause from a uncycled QT. How long have they been in QT/hypo? Did you properly diagnose the reason you went to hypo anyways? Velvet causes rapid breathing and is not affected by hypo so the fish just keep getting worse. Copper is the only cure for that but is more toxic at lower salinitis so you have to be carefull.

You can raise SG 2 points a day I think is the safe level. Its harder on them to raise it fast than drop it fast. It ussually takes a week to get it up to normal levels. Hope this is helpfull.

I understand everything you are saying.

The reason is I'm going out town and do not have anyone to do the water changes and vacuum up the poo while I'm gone. They have been in hypo for 7 weeks now. Thanks for the info on raising the sg.
