Hypo Question

My new puffer has been in hypo now for 2 weeks (1.009) and he still has ich on his fins. I thought by now it would have fallen off, is this normal? Does this mean that he needs to be in QT for longer than 4-6 weeks? Other than the spots, he seems totally fine.

Thanks

Are you using a refractometer to be absolutely sure you are at 1.009? And the ich may be different parasites than what was originally on him if the salinity is above 1.009. As far as time, he needs to be in QT for 4 weeks after the last spots are gone. I know it sucks, but its better than putting him in the main tank, getting ich in there, and having to get all your fish out...

If your using a refractometer and your at .009 and you still have ick, hopefully it goes away in teh next week or so. If not, i have a bad feeling you have the new strand of ick that can take hpyo, its from asia and haven't heard about it in the pet trade yet, but i hope thats not the case.

Actually, at what point should I think of treating him with copper? I would really prefer not to but if it comes down to it, then I may have to I guess...
