Hypo + Red Eye.

After close inspection of my two fish, Goby and Filefish, I notice the filefish had white spots on some of the fins and a cloudy eye.(PH is fine) The goby didn't appear to have any. I think they have ich. So i setup a Hospital tank, and got everything stable.

I did tests to make sure the water quality and parameters are the same.
After tests showing the water parameters are the same as the DT, I caught the two fish,(Which wasn't easy) and put them in the hospital tank. I only allccamated for 30 mins, seeing how the water parameters are almost the same.

This is where my problem has started; (I haven't started lowering the salinity yet)

The file fish is eating a LOT less and startled very easily. He turned white, but a few hours later, he gained some of his color back.

The goby isn't eating at all. He is moving very little. (Almost dragging himself around) It looks like his fins are closed and his body is not staying straight. His gills look like they are moving normal. A few hours later I notice his eyes are very red. A Day later, I notice his face is getting a little red too.

I'm scared for my fish. :(
I think I need some help. Thought I was doing everything right, but I must have messed up somewhere.

I can take pictures if needed.

What type of Filefish is that? I'm not too familiar with them but some of that white stuff on him in the 2nd pic doesn't look right to me. It also doesn't look like Ich. What size QT do you have them in? What are you using for filtration?

I bought the filefish from J&L Aquatics. They sold it as a matted filefish. It changes it's color very often, I think it according to it's surroundings. The white you can see in the 2ed picture is his spikes. I have been only been able to spot, what I'm guessing as ich, on his tail. It's symptoms are flashing and doing 360's and cloudy eyes.

Its the only spare tank I have, it is a 33g. It has a HOB filter with some carbon in it. (Where I am about to do hypo). Tank is stable. I'm doing small water changes each day with a quick vacuum. Im feeding a little extra.

Is this what you have:

From the pic, it looks like "cloudy eyes" are normal for this species. Also, is the white spot near the tip of his tail? If so, it might not be Ich at all but rather a virus called Lymphocystis. Check out this pic:

Yes, that is exactly the fish I have, but not as dark, and younger I think.
Here is a good pic of the fish with what I think is ich. I will inspect the filefish's tail again tomorrow.

Ah, that's a better pic. Take a really close look at the tail. Odds are if that's the only place you're seeing "white spots" it's lympo and not Ich. Lympho usually just goes away on it's own with excellent water quality and vitamin-enriched nutritious foods.

First, I'd like to thank you for your time spent on my problem(s).

So I should put the filefish and goby back in the DT? His tail seems clear of anything abnormal atm. I will keep very close eye on it over the next few days/weeks.

The goby is in QT as well because of where I thought the filefish had ich, so all fish must leave DT.

Another problem I would like to address is about the Blue Spotted Watchman Goby (Goober). He was doing awesome in the DT. Ever seince I've moved him to the QT, he has not been doing so well. He's not moving his body much. His fins are closed most of the time. His eyes turned red, but are now, I think, are starting to return to normal. He ate for the first time yesterday. 3 bites, as they floated by him. They were both moved at the same time. 6 days ago.

I just stuck the feeding baster about 1 inch from his face, and very slowly give him 1/4 cube of frozen bring shrimp. He ate every bite. Now I wonder if there is anything wrong but a crap load of stress from being moved?
I hope this is enough information.

If the only symptoms you observed were white spots on the tail then I'm betting it's Lympho and not Ich (which is great news BTW). Also, it's not uncommon for white spots to be there one day, gone the next, when dealing with Lympho. I would examine the fish carefully, and if you don't see any other symptoms (white spots on the body, scratching, flashing, etc.) then I would go ahead and return them to the DT. It's not that uncommon for a Watchman Goby's eyes to change color so I wouldn't stress too much about that.

Thank god!!!
I feel bad that i caused a lot of stress for nothing...but I am also glad they are both ok. I keep a careful eye on the both of them for a few more days before returning them. Thank you very much for your help.
