I picked up a Majestic Angel and a Pygmy Angel (not at the same time) this weekend. When I got home, the Majestic had popeye for one reason or another. So I set up a 20G long hospital tank and started treating with Maracyn-Two. I noticed some white spots on the pygmy tonight. First, is it okay to put the two together? Second, is it okay to run antibiotics and hypo salinity at the same time?

I have used maracyn-two during hypo with no ill effects. Cant say its a good idea or that you should.
Just a Q though, where is the pygmy now? If hes in your main tank you should treat all fish with hypo. If the fish came from the same store its possible the majestic has ich anyways.
Id be careful where you purchase your fish from. Seems this LFS doesnt take care of their fish.

What a mess. Well, I didn't have much luck last weekend. I got the fish from different stores on different days. The Majestic was first and not from a very reputalble store. More of an impulse buy. It went into quarantine with a Yellow Watchman and a Scooter Blennie. Once I noticed the popeye, I went and got a 20GL hospital for the Majestic. Then I got the Pigmy from a very reputable store and it went into quarantine. Two days went by before I noticed the white spots on the Pigmy. So I really don't know who brought the Ick. So all 4 went into the hospital tank. That night I started lowering the salinity. Over a 5 hour period, It went from 1.025 to 1.016. The Pigmy died at about 1.020. I only had it for two days. This is was my first casualty
I am now sitting at 1.013 and the Majestic, YWG, and Scooter are all eating and seem to be doing fine. I did see two spots on the Majestic yesterday when I got home but they where gone by the time I went to bed.
I started dosing the Majestic with Maracyn because it was the only thing I could find. Two days later I found Maracyn-Two. So I am 4 days into the Maracyn treatment and 2 days into the Maracyn two treatment. All while lowering the salinity. I plan on going the full 5 days with both antibiotics. Keep in mind, I am doing a lot of water changes while trying to lower the salinity, so they will probably not get to the full strength. I just don't want to quit using them mid way because I have heard that can be bad too.
Anyway, this has been a very long and depressing week. I have been playing russian roulette up until now, this time the gun was loaded. I have a 75 stocked with two True Percs, a Flame Angel, a Flame Hawk, and a Two-Spot. None of them were quarantined and all are doing well so far. Needless to say, I am keeping a close eye on them now. Thanks for listening.
