Hyposalinity, fish shedding!

My display has crypto. I am treating with hyposalinity, and just got the SG down to 1.009 a couple of days ago. All my fish and morays are acting pretty good. They are eating. They just breathe a little faster, and shake every now and again. But my clown trigger, and to a lesser extent my juv emperor angel are covered with what looks like sheding old skin, or maybe their slime coat or something. I also see some ich spots on them too.

My questions are, is this normal with ich, or hyposalinity treatment?

Also, how long until I should expect the ich spots to disappear?

Also FYI I set up a 36 watt coral life turbo twist UV sterilizer last night. I have a 350 GPH pump feeding it, and my tank size is 240 gallons. Do you think this will help with ich?

Heavy mucus production can be a part of parasite infection. It probably has nothing to do with hyposalinity. What is the pH of the water? You need to check it daily with hypo. What are you using to measure the salinity? What is the salinity? It can take a week or so for the spots to fall off. Are you sure they have ich? What are the symptoms?

Terry, I'm pretty sure it's ich. The fish had the salt specks all over them. The clown trigger had them the worse, so I was wondering it they shed skin as the ich heals maybe.
My pH is 8.1, I check SG with a floating hydrometer, and it is at 1.009.
The fish are looking better today. Only a few spots, and the clown trig has less of the shedding skin or mucous or whatever it is.

floating hydrometers are not that accurate, especially when it comes to hyposalinity. u should borrow/buy a refractometer if possible, they're way more accurate

i have a 7 inch emperor in a 150 had for i week also doing hypo for ich will leave at 1.090 for another month fish still has eye cloud just treated with .5 dose e-m tablets hope it clears
