Hyposalinity PH

If I am doing a treatment of hyposalinity, is it neccessary to adjust ph to 8.0 or is the salt parameter of 1.009 the only concern?

Depends on what fish you are treating. Wrasses typically require a little more attention when it comes to pH in hyposalinity. But clownfish and even tangs do fine without special care to pH.

The pH will likely slip below 8 easily. due to the decreased buffer capacity.
A pH of 7.8 would still acceptable but I added some 2-part solution to keep it above 8.

I was assuming that with a SPG of 1.009, that the ph would be much lower than 7.8. Like closer to 7.2 I thought. I guess I'm mistaken.
