I added a media basket and filter floss- Skimmer production is down

My protein skimmer production is now 80% (total wild guess) after I added a new media basket and filter floss. the floss gets absolutely disgusting in a few days. I am not that confident in the quality of my skimmer so wondering if there is a correlation that makes sense (it does to me) or if I need to work on my skimmer.

I assuming you are using a canister filter. Have to be careful with them as they can become nirate factories. They need to be cleaned every 3-4 days.

It is an all in one tank- (fluval M90) the media basket forces flow from display over floss then to purigen then to chemipure.

I mean to say skimmer production is down 80%

The skimmer's function is to remove amino acids, which froth out when the water is whipped up in bubbles (surf and sea foam.

would some of those amino acids get removed via the floss? I have a better surface skim(fall off effect) from the overflow were the floss is so that could be mini waves crashing more less. I guess what I am trying to gauge is my Skimmer functioning properly and there is less because of the floss or do I need to pull my skimmer and check it out

If it's a new skimmer patience is key as they need time to build up junk
