Hello all,
First let me apologize, if I seem to be all over the place its probably because I am. Just a bit a frustrated and overwhelmed.
Quick history,Previously I owned a 90gl mostly sps w maristar lighting which consisted of 2 250 hqi and 2 t5's, deltec skimmer and had a calcium reactor, in addition to that my corals got food from the mysis I was feeding my fish and occassionly I would use a turkey baster lightly on the rocks and it seemed to stir stuff up enough for the corals, all the mushrooms would grasp something and close up, they loved it.
Well that was 3 years ago and now I just have a 16gallon Nuvo w 2 t5s.thats it, no other equipment or anything.
I am bit confused on how softies will grow seeing they were getting everything before so not so sure now what exactly it is they need.If all water parameters and lighting is good than do you reccomend adding any additves or feeding mysis as I did before? My tank is 70% stocked, mostly w zoos, mushrooms, xenia. I thought this tank would be easier but its far from that.Everything looks grt except I have a few zoos that are not opening completely but other than that things look good, I just want it to continue. Any info or websites would be greatly appreciated. Also is ok to feed Mysis w out a skimmer, dont want to spike nitrates? My God i feel like i should be posting in the For beginners Forum, this is awful.

Smaller tanks are always harder then larger tanks. The smaller the volume of water, the faster things change. Zoas don't require much light but they do like to eat. I feed mine Cyclop Eeze, flake food and any other small food items, 2 to 3 times a week. Here is my tank info. http://azarmi.com/reef/profile.html

Another common mistake made on nano reef aquariums is dosing. Make sure you test your alkalinity and calcium levels and dose regularly.

Big help

Big help

Thank you much for all the help, I can't tell you how much info I got from your homepage, big time helpful. You seem like you run a very systematic tank, something I need to start doing. Especially w the calc and alk testing as you suggested . I used a calcium reactor before on my 90 so let me ask you, what do you recommend for manual dosing for my 16 ? Thank you much.
