Hi guys,
My first suncoral has been doing great ..thanks to you all.
I was surprised to see how fast they can recover .It has been hardly two weeks but now I see 100% polyp extension and they remain open for half of day.

So I just got the other sun coral from m friend. Its in even worse a state. Most of the polyps are coming out..all polyps are tattered and most of them have died.Feeding it heavily for the last 3 days .Atleast I can see some polyp extension in the latest one.But it would take sometime before its even closer to my first sun coral..

Now I am hooked to suncorals and really lookin forward to make my tank - a sun coral dominated tank.

But I know that I have to get a few things right before getting any more sun coral..

So please help me take the plunge..

Here goes the plan :-

1. A better skimmer for my 28 gal system - I am planning for a reef octopus NW-110 (Cone model) or BM NAC-3.5.. please let me know which sounds better?

2. A refugium or use the chamber for phosphate and carbon reactors?

3. Foods are my main concern-- I have access to frozen brineshrimps and dried cyclopzee..

Want to go Faunamarin way.So if you can help me list out what faunamarin foods are necessary for a predominantly sun coral tank it would be great..

Looking for ward to all your advices.....

I just feed mines mysis. If you cant get mysis then enrich your brine. When I first had it it was pretty beat up and couldn't catch the food. So every night I would have to put mysis over the polyps and in a week it totally recovered. After a month it grew about 10 babies. Sun corals are super easy to care. Feed it at least 3 x a week or it will start receding. it's just too bad that guest can't really see how beautiful these are because they open at night... and a bit in the day if you feed the tank. I would suggest getting some true dendophyllia also. would make the tank pretty awesome. As for a refugium I"ll go for some chaeto. You can always have your carbon right by where the water comes out from your display to the refugium.
