I bought a little cluster of Paly's that need some help.

I got this frag for only 10 bucks. I felt I could nurse them back to health since they are opening and the one large polyp looks awesome; definitely worth trying to save. The polyps seem to open fine but I am concerned about some sort of bacterial infection or fungus. Before I put them in my frag dish for isolation, I scraped a couple small white pieces of fuzz off the a couple of the polyps. I am sure they weren't nudi's but don't know exactly what they are. I am keeping an eye out for anymore of that stuff growing on them to keep from spreading it around the tank. Perhaps someone can help.

For all I know, they might have just been suffering from poor conditions or something about the LFS tank that they didn't really like. Thanks. (Sorry if this was confusing to read, there are a few people here in my room that won't LEAVE ME ALONE! haha)

If I were worried about a fungus/infection, I'd do some type of iodine dip... Whatever you have at hand... :D But those look fine by me... Just need some TLC... :p

SurfatC3G... your just down the road from me..... I'd make sure they have a little flow and that will help if they have any fuzzy tissue... care to say where they came from?

I got 'em from Steven at Coastline if you know him. I actually don't live in Little River anymore, but I am just down the road in Myrtle Beach. You a part of any reef clubs down here?

Yes I do know Steven.... I was there today... not a member of any local clubs.... If you have not been to Seacritters depot you should check it out.... Bruce is getting in more zoa's and palys than before... and he's now open on saturday

Yea I talked to him on the phone last week briefly and he mentioned he was going to start being open on Saturdays.

Seacritters was the first store I'd ever been in that sold coral and sw fish. I was instantly hooked. That's cool to hear about Bruce getting some more stuff. His new setup seems to be the ticket. I am definitely going on Sunday. There is a small chance I won't go Sunday if I get a chance to stop in tomorrow though. It's good talking to you. Maybe we can met up for some trades or just to check out each other's tanks. I also know another person who's big into reefing in the little river area.

I got the same problem with some of my zoas... It took an Iodine dip followed by a FW dip to get rid of it. After a couple of weeks they re-appeared on the same colony and I had to repeat. I am now treating them once a week for a couple of months. Whatever it is it, it is definatly bad news. It keeps the polyps from opening and makes them recede. If anyone has some real insight please let me know.
