Im having a hard time choosing an octo......so hopefully someone can help me. I have a 75 AGA w/overflow, and I think I can handle an octopus.....the only thing that concerns me is that up here in N.Nevada, the Summers are really hot. Is there any octo that would be OK in a slightly warmer tank? Any octo, that is, more lively during the day and of proper size?

Any of the caribbean species should be fine in warmer waters.

How warm exactly are we talking though? Over 82 would be really pushing it. Can you run a fan over the tank or on the sump? You'd be surprised how much difference it can make. Only downside is that it will increase evaporation, requiring more topoffs.

I'm keeping an O. briareus in a 75 gallon.

www.saltwaterfish.com sells O. hummelincki which is Caribbean, very day active and stays relatively small.
www.divertom.com sells the "Caribbean Reef Octopus" O. briareus which grows relatively large (up to 4 foot armspan) but is nocturnal. Mine does occasionally come out during the day though.
www.marinedepotlive.com sells several different species. I would avoid the bimacs though (western Americas) since they are a cold water species.
www.liveaquaria.com sells some Caribbean species (rarely in stock) and also Indo-Pacific species which is usually Abdopus aculeatus and it would do fine in warm water.
