mom said the vinegar ight be old, is this a possibilit

its completly empty of water right now, so i would like to get it all cleaned before we move it up to my house before we fill it with water again

it has this white residue here and there all over the back and sides as well as the top of the aquarium

Muriatic acid

Muriatic acid

You can use muriatic acid (can purchase from most hardware stores like Lowes). Caution: this is very strong and you will need to take precautions like wearing rubber gloves and safety glasses or goggles. You should also use in a well ventilated area.

If you try the vinegar approach again boil water then make it 50/50 use it while it is still hot. It worked for me

Muriatic acid didn't work either. It's funny. When the tank is full the aquarium looks crystal clear. But empty. It's hazy

you can try rubbing compound that's how i got mine cleaned but i also used a buffer the glass came out nice and smooth

You could try using fiberglass insulation.

Take a wad of clean insulation and wet it in warm water with a few drops of soap. This will scrub the glass without scratching it, (same basic hardness).

I've never known aquarium crowd to use this, but I got the tip from a glass shop once.

Ill try the erasers. I tried Hungary and muriatic acid. Neither took it off. It's funny because with water in the tank you can't tell the glass is foggy at all

You can use 000 steel wool. That will get almost anything off of glass or mirrors. I know it sounds weird, but I promise that it works!

My 180 gallon is the same way and it is actually etched into the glass. I used some stuff with diamond shavings in it and a high speed polisher and it only removed a minimal amount of it so with water it is not noticeable so I just let it be. I tried everything that others suggested and nothing worked!
