After all the LR research, all the reading of books and all the DIY projects to get my tank ready, I finally placed my LR order. WOW! This is what it has come down to and Im sooooo nervous.
Now that Im waiting for the waters to clear up, what should I do to the tank? Should I go ahead and put in the saltwater in the tank and run the tank untill the LR arrives, even though Im not sure when TBS will be able to dive for new stock.

Place freshwater in your tank and make sure there are no leaks.

If already done, put the saltwater in and run your filter/skimmer/equipment to make sure you have no malfunctions or anything.

Make sure you have a bucket handy to take a little saltwater back out to compensate for displacement.

Congratulations, hope you have a good ID book, and a digital camera ;)

I would say yes. I did the same thing. I started my tank 3 weeks before I put any rock or sand in because of money issues. I think it helped to go slow. I had just salt water and sand in the tank for the first month and a half, and then the base rock for another month. I've just started adding liverock and things are looking good.

I placed an order last week also, I just wonder how long it will be before they call. Mary said it "could" be this week if they get enough dives in. I wonder what the average wait is? I checked thier and it looks like it is pretty all week........ makes me just want to drive down there!
If I only had the time!

Ok
Here's an update on my TBS order. Im still in the holding pattern. However, I have my 125g up and running, skimmer is skimming. It's amazing how much stuff it can pull out of the water with nothing in the tank. I am having a micro bubble problem. I believe the bubbles are coming from the skimmer. I sure hope I can get this problem resolved before I get my call from TBS.:D

I have the same issue. I am building a hang on fuge and my skimmer will feed it with a gravity flow back into the tank. I'll put a few baffles in it for the bubbles!

Maybe something like that will help you.

That's kind of funny Nicole...when I was waiting for my TBS call I decided to build a refugium too. Mine is a display type that will have a gravity return to the main tank. I hope you have a short wait for your TBS.

That is to funny lol
Do you any pics? Maybe yours can give me more ideas. Since I haven't built it yet, I am not committed to a specific design.

Sorry not the best picture. I got the plans from TheLebos.com. Easy to do & great directions.

Looks real good from here.
Do you know what the volume is?
Wonder how much that things wieghs, I am tring to think if there are any studs where I would hang it on the wall behind the tank... hummmm

I got the top-off system plans from them, haven't tried it yet... it's on my to-do list... seems to be growing as of late!

It's only a 5 gallon tank (acrylic). I'm sure it weighs quite a bit. I have everything screwed into the studs & some heavy duty, but pretty...I'm a girl so it has to be pretty :), brackets holding the shelf up.

I have the top-off plans too but I haven't done that yet either. I like the looks of it though.

The tank is one from Walmart (it came with a biowheel that I might use on a QT) & cost ~$30. I bought the pump Brent Lebo used for his for ~$10. Then there were some grommets & tubing so all in all about $50. A fun little project really, everything was easy to find.

I thought I saw those at walmart............ I thought you build it, I was thinking wht nice edges lol

Right now I was thinking something simular to aqua fuge.
