I give up on cutting the 1/2" glass

Not done yet. However, on my third attempt, I was able to seal all the leaks and so far water has held in the tank for about 12 hours. I made the overflow teeth today, that came out ok.

I will post pics in a few days.

BTW, I have been back at work on this lil tank. It is coming along.
I finished the leak testing. It now holds water.

I drilled the four holes, fitted the tank with the false walnut, plastic trim from the 55gallon tank, cut teeth in the acrylic overflow top section, mounted the top overflow to the glass overflow, and now I am currently working on the plumbing and new canopy.

My camera is out on loan, but i took some pics from my phone. If I can figure out how to download them, you will see em.
Cheers

I had this unit working flawlessly to cool an 80gallon reef tank in a swamp cooled home in AZ. It was not able to keep up with my new 110tall tank so I replaced it with the PCI CL-650.

Many people have successfully used this chiller for tanks around 150gallons it air conditioned homes. It will work in nearly any environment up to 80 gallons. Beyond that depends on your ambient room temperature. If you can keep it controlled, you will be in good shape.

OOps, posted this in wrong thread.

Well, I was working on the plumbing and cracked the bottom. I'm bummed. Glad I did not attempt to take the current nano tank out last night. This will set me back a week or so, maybe. I'm going to try a repair and leak test it first.

Hey Scott, I just had a wild idea. Seeing as how good you're getting at building your tank (you know with your skillz and all) how about we build that 50 gallon cube I've been thinking about? I've got 6 months to get it done, what do ya think, you up for it?

Jeff

kewl! let's do it! I even have a tank that Matt gave me. I was looking for an excuse to cut it up. We may be able to use some of the panels on that for the overflow , back, bottom, etc. Then just buy a few remaining pieces.

I would like to try doing it with black silicone, that looks bad azz. For a better look, we can price the three viewing panels with diamond edge, I'm sure the glass shop offers it.

It should probably be made of 3/8" glass.

BTW, did you see Dan's tank thread? It is a 60 gallon cube, I think it is 24x24x24. Dan, can you confirm this?

His tank was truly awesome to wotk in! I like the 24" wide, big difference over the 18" wides.

OK, I am leak testing the cracked zone, and so far it is holding. Matt had a good idea, to make a brace for that area, cut holes to match and silicone it to the bottom. I will look into doing this.

Scott, that all sounds good to me, not sure what diamond edges are but I'd like to take a look at it. Anyway, I'm kinda messing up your thread, we'll talk at work and start a new thread when the time comes.
