how should i glue the plastic to plastic so it doesnt leak and its nice and tight?

i plan to have a jug of water above my tank, and let the FW drip down...

it will be controlled via a plastic ball that opens/closes tube in very small increments.

thanks.

Sorry, but for the life of me, I have no idea what it is you are trying to get at.

What KIND of plastic to what KIND of plastic? Makes a difference, you know.

If your FW tank is above the water level of you tank, you need to understand that it might overfill and flood and/or hyposalinate your tank.

if you've ever been to a hospital, then u know what IV turbing is. It connects the IV bag (hung above you) to ur hand (which they poked with a needle). its the tube that connects the 2.

on the tube, there is a little device with a roller. u roll it up and down, constricting the tube, and getting the amount of drops/sec u want.

that plastic will be connected to some kind of plastic jug, possibly a 2.5 water jug ( connected at side) and will let it drip down. ofcourse the just will have a hole on top so there isnt a vacuum. its not a hard concept to understand, and its been done before many times

i just want to know what kinda glue to use.

ziplocks will be your clamps. That tubing is best to get off ebay and the roller no need for that. Go to HD and go to the sprinkler section. Look for a drip adapter. They have them so you can connect it to PVC or tubing.

Im building my kalkwasser doser and its pretty much the same thing you are building except mine will dripping kalkwasser.

Those drippers clog REAL quick, especailly if using kalkwasser. Let me know how it works out for you.

Hey Reefer. Yea, good point. Im taking this idea from Gisho.

He has 3 of these drippers on 3 seperate reef tanks. But he as well just connected them in a weekend ago.

Best idea would be to just replace them every so often for that type of application.

Good looking out.

Oh. Perhaps it was the phrase "lining" that threw me. Being that "lining" is far different than "tubing".

Someone mentioned zip ties for this. I agree. As for the restrictor you described, I'd think that would work a bit better than one of those drip restrictors.

The restrictor he wants to use can sometimes cause the tubing to break. I had a bad experience with those roller restrictors. I only use those now to acclimate fish now and then.

no need to use glue or anything else, just drill a 1/8" hole about 2" from the bottom (so it doesn't suck out the settled out kalk) and stick the pointed end of your IV dripper in the hole

You're inserting the male end of the dripper, not the actual tubing......

Although I probably would smear crazy glue around the outside after I inserted it, just for piece of mind.....

wont the line come out though since its not glued?

I never had a leak or had it fall out.....just got to make sure the holes a little smaller...pretty sure its an 1\8" hole\drill bit. If you want to be safe add a drop or two or silicone...don't use crazy glue cause you'll want to remove it every now and then.

They work pretty well for top off on small tank. I used to ask my wife to bring em home from work (ER nurse) I bet I've sent out 50 of them over the years to fellow reefers..
