so, i have just never really been turned on by leathers and such.

that is untill yesterday. at my LFS the have two purple/tealish leathers. each is about the size of a toddlers open hand.

neither had its polyps extended.

now i have never ventured down this path before so...

is purple rare?
is 45 bucks a decent price?
is it a bad sighn that i saw no polyp extension?
Whats challenging about leathers?
check my sig, is my system adiquate?
where do i place it if i buy it? (high, low, sand, rocks?)
are these dunb questions?:D

i know i could find this out if i poked around on the net, i just prefer my info to be seasoned with a little opinion and experience!

You must be really desperate to get turned on by leather corals :)

Purple is very unusual, if it's a very solid purple colour I would suspect it has been dyed.

No polyp extension it not necessarily a bad sign but I would rather buy a coral showing polyp extension.

Leathers are not very hard to keep but you have to be aware of chemical warfare and run quite a lot of carbon. They grow large and require a lot of space.

The placement of the coral all depends upon what leather coral it it.

Not sure if your system is adequate, whats the lighting, water flow?

its not like "crayola" purple....

it looks just lke a standard "finger" leaather but is got like this purplish tint to it.

and to be honest with you at the few LFs round these parts the only leather i have ever seen open were a couple toadstools...
i just figured we get like sub par quality on leathers here in boulder.

how fast does it grow?

do you think a purpleish leather is $45 exciting?
