I have a problem

Ok here is the issue. The six line I saved a couple months back from the depths of the deep black overflow is now going to haunt me. It seems that he has decided he doesn't like how my purple firefish looks, or how he smells not sure which. But the moment the firefish comes from his hole he immediately makes a b-line to him and promptly begins to bite at. The firefish has endured about a week of this and I actually have to keep my cleaning tool in the tank to make sure he can eat without being harrassed, I do this by keeping the six line at bay. My problem is I dont want to stress out the firefish, and one must go. My fear is now that the firefish is a target removing the sixline will only allow another fish to bully him. Wife and kids says bully should go, and thats where the problem lies. I have a purple tang, a diamond goby, a green clown goby, and two blue green chromis. The six line has attempted to attack them until they set him straight, so they can hold there own. Either way I need to swap him or give him away to a better home with more aggressive fish. The next problem will be netting either one. So I guess I am asking what you guys and gals would do, and if anyone wants a semi aggresive sixline or if maybe I should just wait a little longer and see if they work it out.

I have no help. Last week this is what happened to me. I had a tail spot blenny in my 85 and took it out and put it into my nano where the 6 line is. The reason I put the blenny in was to eat on algae. Well, not long after he was in there the 6 line was after it. The blenny would hide and then the next thing I knew, I saw one of my clowns had a hold of the blennies tail and the 6 line was after the head. They were trying to pull it apart. I got my net out and got the blenny out. I then put it back in the 85 he swam around then went into the rocks and I haven't seen it since. These fish that are suppose to be peaceful can surprise you. I wish I had left things alone. I felt bad for putting the blenny through all that. The fish never acted like that before. humm

Unfortunately, Sixline Wrasses (Hexataenia) shouldn't really be considered as peaceful fish at all. Not sure where along the line this myth was propagated, but they are more likely to be bullies than not.

I agree with wpecoul. There is one in a 250 I help maintain, and it will chase a pretty good sized Purple Tang sometimes.

I have never had a problem with my 6 line. He swims around by himself and ocasionaly comes in with the gang. He is the most interesting of the tank. He will ride the current from one end to the other and do it again like a rollor coster. If anything starts to get a little scared they just swim over to the clown for prection and and everyone is happy.

if you want to get him out Rent or Buy a fish trap from Aquarium designs. If you catch him I will buy him from you. I need one in a bad way!

Deal Woody, You got something to trade livestock or coral wise instead of purchase? I will get him in a trap, and when I do I will let you know. He is about a year old with nice colors I will get a pic for you. has a spot on one side missing a couple of scales unfortunately for him the purple tang dont put up with his $h!t, and I dont blame him. If you got nothing to trade I will take something later when you do, thats if I can get him without stressing him and me out.
