I have a quick hypo question

I've read different posts and articles about bringing the salinity down within a set period of time. I've seen where it was stated to lower it down over 24 hrs, over 48 hrs and even over 72 hrs...

My question is, can it be lowered down gradually over a period of maybe say a week? I'm doing it to a big tank and I just can't make the water fast enough to bring it down within a quick timeframe.

It doesnt matter but the clock doesnt start until you hit the 1.009 mark.
So once you are there then start counting your 6 weeks - 8 weeks.

That's what I was hoping to hear - thanks. I had this idea in my head that if I lowered it slower than what most were saying, then it could develop some sort of resistance...
