I have frags now.

My algae lost its hold and ended up in the PH so I have lots of frags if anyone wants any. No charge except for shipping which I found out USPS does priority for a few dollars to most locations. I am netting the frags to small rocks and will probably send them in baggies d which are free from the LRS. I will send DRY method so there will be no weight and in a business card box from work so no cost there either.
Have ten or so total so PM me if interested.

good luck w/ em. i had tried to frag my colony and ended up losing the whole thing...
sorry to hear that. The PH fragged mine and they are already attatching and growing. Don't know how they can attatch by them selves. I have about 4 pieces in my display that are doing their own thing and all the others netted and attatched to rocks in the refugium. All the pieces look good. Maybe it was a different type you had or we have different nutrient load. Fortunatly I haven't been able to grow any diatom or hair, but macro algaes are doing excellent. I have some fern-looking algaes sprouting here and there (pulling them though) and a shave brush that has sent runners all through the sand bed. Halimeda is slow growing, but growing.

If I sent you a pic of the fern-looking would you mind identifying it for me?

Interesting, do you have an ID for this alga yet? It looks similar to Scianaia species but not quite the same..

your fern looking one might be bryopsis.

Best pic I could get of it and it was after I tryed pulling it only succeding in stripping most of the leaves. Can you tell, desirable or undesirable?

Looks very much like Bryopsis, and most people see it as undesirable since it can take over your tank and not many herbivores eat this algae.

definitely undesirable.... the stuff grows everywhere. powerheads, glass, sand... u name it.. it'll grow there

you got pm btw

yeah I have that stuff in the tank  .. remove it from the rock ASAP. it's better if you take it out off the tank and break that part of the rock. Toss it away.

elite's suggestion is what i would do also since there are corals next to it. make sure you have a bucket of water nearby to rinse the rock in case there are any pieces of that algae that broke off... you don't want to chance spreading it to other areas of your reef..
