I have one occelaris can I get another?

last week I bought 2 bangai cards. They never did eat and they died. All my other fish are in pefect health along with corals, clam etc. My water parameters are fine. When I bought them, they had just arrived and been just released in the lfs tank. I should have waited but cards have been hard to come by for a while around here so I snatched them up. Anyway when I had them, they just kind of stayed in the same spot. So being that I have a 4 inch yellow tang, a 1-1/2 inch talbot's and yellow tail damsel, a 3 inch royal gramma and 2 inch 6 line wrass and a 2 inch occelaris clown, I don't know what else to get. My firefish jump out, lost 2 of them. I'm thinking the only thing that might work is a mate for my clown. What do you guys think? I do have a nice large,14 inch RBTA

I hear that fish endure quite a bit to make it to the LFS. Maybe if a similar event occurs in the future you can prepay for the fish and let them hold on to them for a week or so before making another move.

getting ocellaris to pair is far easier then getting other clowns to pair. first, find a clown as small as possible (smaller then your original clown) then aclimate, add to tank, and wait for them to pair.

If you get another clown. Get a much smaller one.
Don't you think that it would be better to get one the same size ? It would make my clown think twice about picking on the new one, and the new one seldom jumps in a tank and starts fights. I think it is usually the other way around. I could be completely wrong on this. I just want to share my thoughts and please feel free to tell me why I'm wrong. Thanks guys.

You want to get a smaller one otherwise they will fight. By getting a smaller one you force the existing clownfish to be female, and the new fish to be male.

It won't pick on the smaller one as much as if it were the same size becuase it already knows which is dominant.

When you get a smaller one. Hopefully the larger one becomes the female, and the smaller the male. More than likely they will pair up, but there is always a chance they wont. It has worked for me in the past. So good luck.

no that is the opposite, aggression will be less with a size difference.

get the smallest ocellaris you can find.

I agree, I had 1 medium ocellaris and I ordered a small one online. Instead I guess they thought I wouldnt find having a large one. It ended up getting killed by my medium clown.
