I have to ask.

Okay, it may have been asked a hundred times already, and I'm the only one unaware, so forgive me (the search function never works)

What I wanted to know is... what the heck is so special about PPE's? (purple people eaters) Why are they so expensive, and why are they so sought after? Now, don't get me wrong.. I find them to be very nice.. hell, I admit.. I'd probably fork out a pretty penny for a frag.. but only because you won't find them cheap anywhere now a days.

So what is it about them that make them the "ultimate" zoo .. ? (or so it seems)

Or is it the PE's all together that are considered "rare" ?

Blah... just curious , that's all !

They're special if you think they're special and you like them :)

They're expensive because that's what some people are willing to pay.

Why do people want them? Probably each person that does, has their own reason.

I'd like some myself, but will probably look for someone that wants to trade for other stuff.

i like the ones with green mouths because they stand out and i like green. as to ppe, i couldn't pay the going rate for them, so my only hope is trading.

It doesn't make sense to me. As soon as it's dubbed "rare" or special, everyone wants it.. prices go through the roof, etc.

Oh well, to each his own. I just wanted to know why they are so amazing.. sure they are nice, but they're just zoos! I could easily call my orange PE rare , and then start the cycle, hahah...

Yeah, people call stuff rare all the time.. Doesn't mean it's going to catch on and get good money. Most PE's don't cost much for them. Like RPE's are a dime a dozen and are pulled in from the wild all the time. The PPE has held its own for a lot of years now as "The premo zoa". I really can't answer why, but just wanted to point out that people try to hype stuff by calling it rare all the time. It rarely works and they just end up looking like a jackarse.

I don't know if I would call PPE's "rare" but I do know that lots of people have been trying to get them without success... Unless they have the $ to get into an ebay war for them. I tried that and paid about $90 w/shipping to get ONE polyp just to watch it die.

Luckily I have a trade coming up soon that hopefully will get me a couple polyps of those :D

well, coming across something with a true green mouth obviously isn't as common. also, the PE types seem to grow quite slow compared to other zoa/palys.

why is PPE more famous than other PE's? mostly just due to how they came on the scene and were marketed by a certain website that sold them and donated profits to refugee children (or something similar).

i think there are some other PE types out there that look much more amazing than the PPE. but lets keep them on the D.L. so they dont become subject to hype. ;-)

I guess in the end it's just all about the hype. People start saying this and that, next thing you know it PPE's are the #1 "primo" zoa to have... it makes sense, and I understand. I was just wondering if there were any other stories or reasoning behind why they were so popular and expensive. I guess we're all to blame somewhat haha...

thats more true than most people would ever care to admit

Ignore the hype. Just ask yourself if you like how it looks :)

There's lots of stuff on Limited Edition lists that don't catch my interest.

Oh no, I agree.. there's lots of rare zoos I don't find nice.. I'm not so much like that. Plus, I'm not a die hard zoa collector, I just grab the nice ones when I can.

I didn't mean to say that PPE's are the ONLY *primo* zoa.. just one of them at least.

Anywhoo, that clears that up.
