I heard a whistle

It's Dr. Goodluck Himself
Definitely a whistle. Twice. Lasted maybe 3 seconds each time. High pitched, not loud at all, but unmistakable.

Is this my Wavebox? I love my Wavebox, but I have had terrible luck with Tunze equipment (wait a minute, I have had terrible luck with just about everything).

Instructions say the alarm sounds continuously, then sounds once when the pump is off. Well, that isn't happening. I unplugged for a minute and plugged back in. No whistle or alarm. Only heard it those two times, about 3-4 secs each time.

Was it the Wavebox? If so, what does THAT mean and why isn't it in the instructions?

Joel,

Its not the alarm is it? Clean the stream out. If it encounters some reistance it sounds a whistle sounding alarm.

Yea, have you ever heard the alarm squeal before?
Probably just time to clean it...the sporadic alarming means it's still working, but getting dirty.

The alarm only sounds when the pump is running, so 3 seconds sounds about right with the pump cycling on and off.

Thanks. I'm not sure. I'm guessing that is it. But it has only happened twice for like 3-4 secs each time.

I'm not relishing this. My luck cleaning the 6060 "drive shaft" was not fun.

Is it likely in the magnet/impeller/drive shaft assembly or in the pump chamber that holds the magnet do you think?

If yur scared..... Anyway a safe way to clean it out would be to remove th foam from around it and just soak the whole Tunze in vinegar for a bit then rinse real good like. Clean the sponge well. This won't be perfectly clean, but it will work.

Thanks,
Chris

I've never had trouble cleaning it....Pull the pump out of the box, take the impeller out (and be sure to get the bottom fitting which is usually the part that gets stuck in there), soak the whole lot of 'em in vinegar, use a brush (I use a baby bottle brush) to clean the inside chamber and the impeller shaft itself. Done.
