Hello all, have had my reef up for about 4 months. Everything is doing good. Went thru all the cycles and now every thing is pretty good
tank 75 gal with 20 gal sump
lights are MH 10K 250 watt with T5 HO atinic sup (2)
#1 Calcium 400 ppm ant trying to get it higher with 2 part
#2 Salinity 1.025
#3 Alkalinity 3 to 3.5 meq/L getting a better test kit
#4 Ph 8.2
#5 Magnesium Not sure but getting a test kit to check
#6 Temp 78 to 80
#7 Nitrates 10 to 12.5
#8 Nitrites 0
#9 Phosphate 0 ppm by test kit indication
#10 Ammonia 0 ppm by test kit indication
Here what happened. Went to the pet store that I buy my parrot food at (two african greys) and went to look at their saltwater tanks. Well found 4 crocea clams in a 29 gal tank with a compact flo light on it and a bio wheel filter. It was very dark in there and they were just sitting on regular fish aquarium gravel. They did not look happy at all, very little extension on the mantle. I told the manager that I wanted one of the clams. She went and got a fish net to get the clams out of the tank with!!! Told her to stop, and then told here to get a few more bags and I got all of them. I did not want to see them die from stupidity. After paying for them (my wife was ok with this to boot). I gave 3 of the clams to a friend that has a very large reeftank and I kept one. I did not plan on getting any clams untill the tank was a bit older 10 to 12 months at least. But I did. Did I screw this poor thing, or help it out.
