I prefer the saturation method of feeding, it doesn't necessacarily have to be bowl feeding you can use a 2 liter bottle with the bottom cut off placed over the clam. I personally prefer to do this because it allows better saturation of phyto on the clam, and i haver had too many head aches with oing the whole tank. I usually try to avoid clams under 3 inches anyways.

As for your clam, it will do well, for a while just like it was probably doing well at Petco. Just watch it and make sure you try and take care of it to the best of your abilities. As far as putting someone on your ignore list, I wouldn't because one day they might have something constructive to say and won't be able to because you blocked their post. What ever you choose to do good luck.

No toe steppin here lol....I prefer the bowl technique for a few reasons, one since my tank is 90 something % acroporas I want it super low nutrient So I only directly feed the refugium small amounts of phytoplankton. The 2nd reason is im not set up to culture my own phyto yet, and the nearest lfs that sells DT's is a two hour round trip...thus its cheaper for me to target feed 2.5 mls per day via bowl technique...But with the results of growth and mantle extension of feeding the clams everyday with the bowl technique, convinces me its a good thing for my set up....as far as stressing the clams, im not worried ither, actually I think they may be classicly conditioned to it now...
Just my experiences anyway, every set up runs a bit different and I dont mind target feeding the clams, now the orange sun coral now thats a pita to feed lol.....

There's really not much room for personal attacks and sarchasm in this forum - please keep it civil so that we can all continue to enjoy the forum.
Unfortunately, the clam you just saved does have a fairly high probability of passing in your tank. There's always a chance that you'll beat the odds, but IME and from almost everything I've seen, your lighting is really not appropriate. Keep an eye on it for the next weeks, and if you suddenly wake up to an empty shell one morning, you'll know why.

Yeah, I;ll be keeping a close eye on it and I;ll try the bowl feeding, thanks guys.

You have to take into account the different opinions stated there. They said that you could, in theory, keep one alive but you curcumvent growth and it doesn't really thrive. I see it as a poor alternative to keep something in captivity, because it obviously isn't really healthy if it has to struggle to grow. Just my $0.02

I only do petco saves when I deem them saveable.
There was another maxima there when I got this one, but that one looked like it was on it's last leg and this one looked relatively healthy.
I think it's happy as a clam in my tank. (Pun central)

looks like an ultra max, not a bad price....so pet co has ventured into the clam market....I would go back and bargan with the manager for the sickly clam...offer him ten bucks and tell him it will be dead in a few days in his system....if its a baby max it probally just needs some great water quality and daily feedings of live phyto....for a month...the prettiest clam in my tank was risk...got it for 20 bucks....and now its fully healed and the prettiest clam I own out of 4 croceas and three maximas...
