I just cut a hairy mushroom from the rock

I just cut my green hairy mushroom that was way too big for my 10g tank and stinging some tankmates from the rock he was on... i used a new clean razorblade but couldnt cut him in one cut... since the rock was kinda jagged and i couldnt just get underneath him.. it was alot harder than i expected and pretty messy... and it smelled horrible when i removed it from the water... I took out the pieces of the mushroom by hand that i could grab and i syphoned out 3 gallons of "messy water" containing coral sediment or whatever you wanna call it "guts" and then i let it settle a bit and it was pretty much gone... i left a very small portion of the shroom untouched... to see if it'll just be a small one and grow a mouth maybe? and the rest is mostly gone just some white flesh still on the rock a little bit... i'll brush that off as the week goes by and keep doing water changes when i do touch it...

I doubt I did this the professional or correct way... i realized that when it was almost over and im very worried of an algae breakout or something... any help or experience or anything would be appreciated... my strategy is just to get rid of the remaining crap and do water changes every time i do scrub/brush more off the rock...

thanks
