Well with the sudden heat today and the lack of AC due to not actually checking the weather I got home to a tank that was at 84.9 The tank normally runs between 78.3 and 79.5. I am just trying to decide if I should turn up the heater and slowly lower the tank temp over the next couple days or if I should just let the tank slowly come down on its own over the next 14 hours or so. What do you all think?

raise your temp up to 80all the time then if it goes to 84 its not that bad

I would just let the tank slowly come down on its own. 4 - 5 degree drop over the next 14 hours shouldn't be that bad. My tank often has a 4 degree variance within a 24 hr period.

no fretting.. my swing is larger than that...i swimig from 79-84 every day.......you'll be okay!
