I love my cube

Any chance of seeing a picture of the CPR HOB fuge/skimmer combo? Do you have any equipment housed within the stand?

100% here you go.

From left to right. CPR HOB refugium/skimmer, Solana sump with 200 micron filter bag and carbon bag in the media tray. Also have a power head pointing up in the sump to create water tension and help oxygenate the water. On the right side I have a 10 gallon RO/DI water reservoir. Mounted on the door is the ACJr and ATO controls.

For flow I use a Koralia 4, Maxijet 1200, and the Quite One return pump for a total around 4,000 gph

I have read numerous articles that explain the importance of oxygenated water and how it is more important that lighting. So, I also have two returns in the display pointing up and creating surface tension as well.

How long have you been using the cpr fuge/skimmer? I had a cpr skimmer on my 29 Biocube and it worked well. Just wanted to see your thoughts on this larger tank.

I wanna put my RO/DI unit in my landry room, but how do you do a water change if your tank is in another bedroom just across from it? How do you get the good water from the BRUTE's to the tank? Im tired of carrying 5 gallon buckets for my fresh water tank. I want to be able to pump my saltwater straight into my sump for my new tank. Does it matter where your RO/DI water is? Is there a way to add it to the sump that doesn't break your back. I saw one guy "limpitsreef" roll his in the room on a little funiture dolly and then siphon into the sump. With carpet in the room where my tank will be, that's going to be a challenge rolling 50/G of water to my tank for siphon. I guess what I'm getting at here is.....Is there any ideal location and way to do your water changes and place for your equipment to be located in the house. If that equipment is located in other rooms and needs to be linked to your tank, are you guys paying people to come install and run wiring and hoses through walls or what?

Well I just installed two bulkheads into my trash can that I mixed the salt. I placed a mag 7 or 9 in the bottom of the can to mix the salt and move the water to the tank. You will need to plumb a loop from the bottom of the can to the top for mixing. I used two ball valves to move the water either to the tank or back to the trash can. I attached a flexible tube to the outlet of the trash can and just draged that to the aquarium when needed for water changes. I only had to go about 10' in total. I just tore down my tanks, or I could post a picture.

pictures are always welcome here!

when you say plumb a loop, can you explain that a little more or post a pic?

I know one guy uses a mag 5 in his RO/DI water, says it mixes the salt very well and keeps the water circulating. He also uses another small pump in his waste container. I think the pump is smaller than the mag 5, because the container is a bit smaller as well.

Wish I could post pics, but my house is on the market and all my aquarium stuff is in storage. I hoping to get a 60 Solana and that is why I'm following this beutiful tank.

I plumbed a bulk head to the bottom of the brute and attached a PVC valve. I mix salt water in the 5 gallon buckets you see in the picture there. After I add the salt I drop in a 200-2500gph power head to help the mixing. I then add 10ml of vitamin C and 5ml of this trace elements additive. I try to let it mix for 24 hours before I do the water change. Once that is all complete I just drag the bucket to the tank and start the water changes. Doesn't take long at all. I really enjoy water changes"¦ not sure why.

Hey, you said you have 2 returns and a pump in you sump pointing up. Are your returns plumbed into the bottom of the display and flowing up vertically?

I don't understand the term "tension." Are you refering to turbulant flow around the tank.

I have one return pipe that splits to 4 returns in the tank itself. Two of those are pointed up. Also, I'm refering to creating turbulance at the waters surface to create more gas exchange. Sorry for the confusion.

My wife bought a new lens to take pics of the kids. So, I thought I would take a few of the tank. What do you think?
