I'm trying to find a sixline wrasse, yellow watchman or orange diamond or pink spotted goby, colorful blenny, and a royal gramma. Does anyone know where to get any of these fish that are healthy?

I like Beldt's for selection, price and health. They usually have one or more of most of the fish you mentioned in stock.

Marine solutions may have the fish too, but they are usually a little higher and pretty risky on health IMO.

I've actually had the exact opposite experiance than hagfish, the fish I get from beldt's tend to die on me, and the fish I get from MS live ? who knows?

Anyway, Chad's new store is open now I think, I haven't been to the new store, but I was over at his house once and all his livestock looked superb. With MS you have to look very closely for the healthiest fish you can find and point and say "I want that one right there". Beldt's (for me at least) has been hit and miss, mostly on the miss side, but things may have gotten better since a couple months ago (last time I purchased a sw fish there).

Clayton Pet usually has pretty good livestock, but expect to pay for it, though you can request to NOT get the "warrenty" and they will sell you the fish cheaper.

I didn't know CPE included a warranty in the price of the fish. Any idea how much that adds? Is that on corals too?

rottie, as you pointed out you really have to eyeball the fish from MS, half of them are near death usually. That's what I meant about health. At least Beldts fish tend to look healthy in the store. I've had good luck keeping them alive too. The new management has really improved things there. That may be why you had problems with them in the past. The old management didn't keep things nearly as healthy. And I think the new management had to fight through that as a result.

six line is bad for a small tank, 40 gallons might be just on the boarder. they eat a TON of pods. your main tank will be pod free if you get one.

I wouldn't say a sixline is bad for a small tank. True, it will eat a lot of pods, but those aren't necessary for most fish or other animals. Just don't keep a mandarin in with it if the tank is small. My six line eats everything I put in the tank so I don't think it would be hard to get one to take other foods.

I am about to get rid of a fat healthy 6 line when I combine the 58 and the 75 into a 135. At that time he is available. He is a pod eating machine.

ok here is the deal

I have bought fish from everywhere and I have lost my fair share of fish and corals

I believe that you need to get your info straight

most fish stores get from the same wholesaler and the same ocean

you need to make sure the fish is eating and that if is alert and maybe put them on hold a few days before you get them

As soon as I can find a truck and a couple of strong backs to get the tank in my little place. lol Hopefully the tank will get here this weekend, the move will be a few weeks after that if all goes well. If the sixline is still available he is yours. I would keep the litle guy but I am keeping a spotted mandarin in the 75 and don't want him competing for the pods. A 6 line is an incredibly effecient hunter.

It may come to that...my best friend is the size of sasquatch and has a truck...but he has been sick or we would have done it last night. As you know...6' tanks are friggin heavy and I live in a 100 yr old flat with steep stairs. It should be a fun move. lol I do appreciate the offer and may take you up on it if plan a falls through.

Back to topic...I happen to agree with Steve...you can get healthy or unhealthy fish from any store. I have the worst luck with Death Marketplace on fish.

I may also have a Yellow Eye Kole to find a home for. If he and the Yellow do not get along, he will need a good home.

I have to agree with Chadfarmer. I've bought from everyone listed and then some with varying degree's of success. That being said, I stopped by Pet Market Place on Watson today - I have a client near there so I always check them out along with TWP - and while the conditions are usually deplorable, they do have two small yellow watchmans @ $15/ea that seemed to be healthy enough. Back in Nov I picked up an Orange Diamond and a longspine urchin from them and both are growing like weeds, but I watched them both for almost a week before taking them.

You agree with Chad, and I agree with you for agreeing with Chad. You need to look at the individual fish and not the store most of the time. Some places are NOT maintained equally however.

IMO PMP 's tanks typically don't look good look and I hate to see the livestock suffering. Sure wish they would take better care of the SW area and stock.
