I might start off hand dosing my 65, do you?

Will doing 2 half doses throughout the day make things more stable?or is it such a small difference it wont matter?

I have a 65g that's SPS dominated (birdsnests, Pocci, Monti's). I hand dose B-Ionic at morning/night. I haven't noticed any stability issues, and I'm getting pretty good growth.

Just stopped pouring in doses and now I'm using a $7 feeding bag

Here's another cheap drip method:

Get a cheap (but new) clear 1 gal. jug
Drill a hole in the top (barely large enough for rigid air line, 1/4" stuff I think)
Insert the air line into the top (should be snug so it won't rest on the bottom)
Slip air tubing (cheap clear 1/4" silicone or plastic tubing) onto the top of the rigid air line
Attached needle valve (again just the cheap air flow valves)
Draw a siphon and let drip (like what Biggles was talking about)

This is best for Alk supplements (for stability) and Kalk (has to be introduced slowly, due to the high pH at supersaturation). It only requires that the jug sit higher that your sump's water level. You can raise and lower the rigid air line to adjust your daily dose. This also can help eliminate the risk of dosing too much. I used this on my 30g breeder:

And my 65g (this was my upgrade from my 30g):

WARNING: Always dip. AEFW's caused me to tear this tank down. I miss it.

Damn Kasey, i'd miss that beautiful reef too mate :(

Thanks Biggles. Yeah, most of those were bought as frags; those pictures don't show the corals at their largest. I think that was 3-4 months before I broke it down. You live and you learn!

Are you diluting the alk alot or to where you could drip over the course of a few days? Btw nice tanks!

Thanks!

I marked the jug with measurement lines, used Randy's DIY 2-part, and dosed the Alk part about 1ml/U.S. gal (adjusted accordingly when I first started). I had about 10 clams in the 65g so Alk uptake was pretty high with the SPS.

For the 30g, I used Kalkwasser solution, supersaturated, and dripped half a gallon per night. This was slightly increased as Alk demand grew. That also adds Calcium and helps mitigate nightly pH drops.
