You guys are the experts.

I am thinking about getting a Digital SLR camera in the near future. Could you guys recommend one that would be good for a beginner?

I was looking at the Nikon D50 or the Canon 350D. what are your opinions on these 2 cameras. Or is there something better out there at about the same price?

Thanks so much in advance.

I have the Canon 350D I think its a great beginner camera because while you can do the basics you can still do shots with endless possiblities if that makes sense I really like the way all canons "feel" also but you must go feel them both before you buy and see what feels the best to you, good luck let us know what you get
Sincerely
Steven

thanks Steven.

Now that i was looking at cameras all night i was looking at the Canon 400D. Would this camera be too much for a noob? Any good lens recomendations?

thats not too much camera at all it similar to the 350D except i think its got like 10.2 megapixels rather than 8 but its a great camera......................good lens for taking macro shots of your coral is either the canon 100mm macro or if you want to be able to look deeper in your tank (not depth of field) but actually look deeper in your tank like me I just got the Sigma 150mm macro so it all kinda depends what you are trying to do with your lens but again let me(us) know what you get shoot me a pm if you have any other questions hope this assisted you some good luck

Sincerely
Steven

what do you mean by deeper? I would love to take some good macro shots. I also want to get this camera for more everyday stuff. so would the 10.2 be too much for something like that?

by deeper i just mean deeper in your tank or farther away from the front glass eg say you have some sweet corals in the back of your tank you may not be able to get to them without say a 150mm macro by sigma or a 180mm by canon (600 dollar price difference in the two though)
Sincerely
Steven
