I need help.

I have been attempting to grow zooanthids in my tank for over a year now. However, everytime I purchase a frag, they always melt away. For example, I just attempted to try it again when I purchased brown button polyps. Within a week, the face of the polyps have white circles as if they was bleached on each polyp.

Water parameters are in check (just had a full test done at the lfs) and I don't see any predators on the polyps (both night/day).

Tank:
A/P 12 gallon 70 watt HQI setup. Zoas are placed at the bottom and away from the intensity of the light.

Could someone please help me because I really want to be successfull at harvesting them. If you have any further questions about my set-up, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks.

I have softies, lps, and sps and nothing suffers. Everything is growing really well but I can't seem to keep zoos. Alk is okay (had that tested)

have you been at this (salt water) for a while?? i is a lot harder to keep a 12 gallon body of water stable and balanced than it is a 75 gallon. if you started a 40g breeder with a 30g sump with no filters just live rock and good algae in the sump with a skimmer and a little light, a thick sand bed and some more rock in the breeder with some good circulation and the right lights (mh)...you will do exactly what your doing but you will see different results. once you can hold 1 polyp.....it will be hard to get rid of them. and dont be adding chemicals in the tank all the time. thats bad for the under water life.
