I was just about to get my LR ready to put in the tank, I hooked up the drain hose, and apparently it was just enough pressure to break the seal on the bulkhead. So I raced to syphon most of the water out of my tank to stop the leaking, but now I have a ton of LR and no tank to put it in.

I have no clue how to repair the bulkhead (it cam already attached to the tank) So I will need some help with that. I don't think it cracked the glass.

I'll have to put the LR in a tub and dump the excess water, oh well.

Can anyone help me out with the bulk head repair soon? Preferably before my wife gets back on Sunday.

If its a standard bulkhead its an easy fix. Can you shoot a pic of the fitting so we can see what you need?

have you tried to hand tighten the bulk head to see if the leak stops? If you cracked it I have another 30 gallon you can have for free

Not much can go wrong with a BH. Do you have a seal? Do you have the seal on the correct side? Did you clue the fittings? What is the size of the BH? Were did the tank come from LPS or used? If it was used then the seal could be old and dry. If you can tell us what size it is there are a lot of people with a bunch of fitting that are waiting to be used.
I guess what I an saying is a little more info would help us help you.

Ok, I was kinda in panic mode so I know I was skimping on the details.

The tank is used. There is an overflow on the back in the midle of the tank with the bulkhead pretty much in the dead center of the back.

I don't know anything about the size other than it fits into 1" PVC.

I am thinking it is probably the seal. I can see underneith the back peice of the BH. I think what happened is when I hooked up the flexible tube that drains to the sump to the ball valve it put some pressure outward on the whole fitting. This seams to have been enough to break the seal. I have tried tightening it, but it seend as tight as it will go.

I have the LR in a tub with a heater and a pump for circulation so for now the crisis is contained.

I have some photos but they are on my phone and I can't seem to find my microSD adapter.

If it happens that you need another bulkhead , I have a few laying around that you are more than welcomed to...

take the bulkhead fully off the tank, and clean the glass where the gasket seals (might need a razor blade if it's nasty).

2nd....let the gasket do the work

I think I have it fixed. I unhooked the drain line, and that took the pressure off the BH. Then tightned it up a hair. I filled the overflow box, so now the BH is completely underwater and no water is leaking out.

I am going to slowly add water back into the tank and see if it holds.
