I need Magnesium at the meeting!

Hi group,

I need to get some bulk mag at the next meeing. I forgot the guys name! Same guy I got the bulk GFO from. I "think" he brings some to every meeting. Is that correct?

I gots what you need. I provide the following bulk from my own stock as a courtesy to MARS members (read: I will not ship, sell, etc. to non MARS - sorry!)

MgCl2 - Magnesium Chloride
MgSO4 - Magnesium Sulfate
CaCl2 - Calcium Chloride
Ca(OH)2 - Mississippi Lime
Na2CO3 - Soda Ash
Fe2O3 - GFO

I buy all these items direct for personal use and all purities are in line with the recommendations for the 3 part solution mix. Price for MARS members is $1/lb for all except the GFO which is $15/lb.

I'll bring a bunch based on request, but please find me at the meeting if you need something. I will be busy ensuring we all have a great time Friday evening and will not have much time to find you.

Good stuff! I think I need the MgCl2. I use Instant Ocean and a Ca reactor so.......... Without dosage, my Mg is at 1000. Booooo IO. Not making two part

Some people recommend using a combinateion of MgCl2 and MgSO4. Use a ratio of 10:1 (MgCl2:MgSO4)

To perfect such a recipe, it's imperative to know the amounts of sulfate in Epsom salts (39%), the amount of chloride in magnesium chloride hexahydrate (34.9%), and their bulk densities, because most aquarists will use a volume based measurement (1.05 g/cm3 for Epsom salts and 0.85 g/cm3 for magnesium chloride hexahydrate solids). Taking all these factors into account, the desired volume ratio is 10:1, MAG flake to Epsom salts, as a supplement; for instance, 10 cups MAG flake and 1 cup Epsom salts.
