I need more flow.....Pic

hey,

right now, I have a MAG 7 pushing return water through a SCWD, and out into my 20g long. I am thinking that I need more flow....but I don't know where I would put any extra powerheads or closed loops. I was hoping you guys might have some advice.

Here is an outdated pic...but my rock work is still the same.

Some seio's in the back corners angled at the middle of the front pane would work, they would look ugly for a little while but you would get used to it. The colisition of the water would cause random flow. I was thinking 620s or 820; although the 820 may be a bit much with the sand, you could throttle them back or aim them away from the substrate.

I have a 620 that I did the Tunze mod to...it was really big in the tank, and took up the entire rear right corner.

I will try it again, though.

Anyone else?

Hide the SEIO behind the rockwork on the right side of the tank.
Point it toward the side of the tank, kinda at an angle.

the problem I had with the SEIO is that even throttled down, it would mix up the sand pretty well. I will try it again, though.

Would a MJ 1200 or similar pump work as an external closed loop?

Yeah.....SEIOs in general are kinda chunky.

Are there any small, high flow solutions that I havn't came across yet?

I don't think the mag 7 would work very well with a penductor be cause of the high back pressure demand of the pen. The idea of using a couple of sea swirls in place of the scwd would increas your flow. The scwd's do cause some reduction if flow because of backpressure. Try a mag 9 or seio's IMO.

thanks. I was looking at the Seaswirls...but at $120..I might as well buy an OM squirt, and have 4 different outputs.

I really would like to stick with the MAG 7. I think I just need some additional flow on the hard-to-reach areas.

Looks like youd have room to setup a closed loop if you run the lines over the back of the tank. Melev has info on his site about doing this.
