Hello all,

Could you tell me is it true if when a tank builder quote a tank like
"the tank will be 5'x4'x25" with one inch material. One side will be blue and the tank will have an external overflow box on the side with the blue. ”
does not mean the bottom will make by one inch material?
when I told him about his quote this is what he said
"I quote tanks everyday and when I tell someone their tank is going to be 1 1/4" material they know the bottom is not going to be that"
Do we should know that when we order a tank from every builder?

Thanks

Glass or acrylic?
Since an acrylic tank has to have the entire bottom supported, the bottom really doesn't have to be the same thickness as the sides. My 51"X49.5"X25.25" acrylic tank has 3/4" sides, and only 1/2" for the bottom and euro brace.

To answer your question, no, you should not know. A professional builder should go over every aspect of the tank with you. Thickness of acrylic, top, bottom, and sides, and should explain why. Offer suggestions on a colored background, or not. He should give options for euro bracing or standard top. He should discuss overflow options, size location, and how many. also drain hole and return hole size and location. He should also explain the capabilities (amount of flow they can handle) of these hole sizes.

Anyone that gives you an attitude should be discarded in the trash. I don't care how good their tanks are. Then look for another builder.

Thank you cward, MAthU, and KenT.
