i really want a clam

I have been deaming about getting a clam and my computer wallpaper have many clams. I just love them so much that is why I set up a 120gallons tank it is almost 4 month old and my mushrooms are growing like crazy, the other things that I have also. my numbers are good with an exception of the nitrate that keeps in the 10 to 20 range. I change my filter everyday and water once a week. I cleam my glass everyday and it does have a purple thing growing on it. I mix up the send every 3 days to keep it white. Is this the time to add a clam? What about an aneminy? thank you.

What are your other parameters?- Calcium, phoshate, pH, alk. Also what type of lighting do you have?

If you are having a nitrate problem with so few fish I would suggest getting a better skimmer, feeding less, and doing 10% weekly water changes. Those nitrates may or may not irritate the clam however they show me that you have some underlying problems that need to be taken care of. You should get some sand sifting starfish and or sea cucumbers to mix the sand.. clams do not like sand storms. 2X175 watt mh lights are not enough for that size tank. You would have to keep the clam directly below one of the lights. Ca/ALK/Mg need to be very stable as well. Are you using RO/DI water? It is not a good idea to keep clams and anemones in the same tank.
