Ok, I realize I am a newbie and don't have much cred when it comes to this hobby but I will share my experience none the less.
My new Nano Cube DX arrived a little over a week ago and I wanted to load it with the TBS package but they did not have any stuff in b/c of hurricanes, bad weather, back log of order, etc. So in my haste to get my tank cycle started and give my kids something to look at other than a tank full of water I went to the LFS. I will NEVER do that again! The uncured crap I got from the LFS including their "live" sand was a total waste of money. I stopped by TBS today b/c they said they had a little rock in. There wasn't much to choose from at the store (although I will say being able to handle, examine and pick every piece of rock from the tanks is awesome!) after considerable examinationa and contemplation I selected my puny 8lbs of rock and begged them to scape the bottom of the tank for some LS.
I got the stuff home and pulled everything out of the tank. I scrubbed the uncured LR from the LFS and it still stinks! I added the new LS and started to try to scape the tank after the dust settled a little. I have more rock then I can use in the tank and I should get rid of all of the stuff from the LFS but I can't bear to throw away $60 worth of rock. So, I try my best to use all of the rock from TBS and aquscape something that looks good. I am not real happy with my work but I will try some rework later.
Within minutes, yes, I mean minutes of finishing the aquascape job and sitting back to check thing out there was life EVERYWHERE on the TBS rock. I don't even know what half of this stuff is but there is stuff moving all over the place. I am having a blast just looking at all of the stuff on the rock and in the sand. So far only one gorilla crab that I have seen and no mantis shrimp. I am sooooo happy with my TBS purchase!!! I won't buy or recommend anything else, period. I actually wish I had a bigger tank just so I could get more of this rock!
I am sure you all are tired of me gushing on like this but I can't stop being impressed and pleased with this purchase!
