Now that my main shroom tank has been switched to 250 20000 USHIO HQI's from 250 10000k's, all of my rics and yumas are reproducing like crazy......No difference in reg disc...spec....Does this really matter.....What makes this so.....Any info would be really appreciated....

I am only going to venture a guess that the PAR in a certain spectrum is somehow more consumable by zooxanthelle versus other light ratings.

It kind of reminds me of like some silly cartoon where these guys have a ray gun operating ona certain frequency trying to knock down a wall and they have to tune it just right to be able to do the job. I was reading on the zoaid website and about how certain spectrums bring out the starbust effect in the polyps.

Could a certain kind of light be more "delicious" to us the way we'd probably pick an ice cream sundae over broccoli? or more nutritious in the other way around?

yeah, definitely gotta look into some kind of formal education on this stuff lol

I'd love to do that as well. Too bad marine biology degrees make you learn soo much stuff I'm not particularly interested in  I'd like to just study corallimorphs and maybe corals as well :D

I haven't changed my 2x175W XM 15kK halides in almost a year and a half (poor/no longer into SPS) and over the last 6 months, my mushrooms have doubled in size and doubled in number. I am guessing that the halides were simply too bright for them and they stayed small and since they are so old, the intensity is way down and the shrooms are liking it more. My guess is that this is what happened with the change from a 10kK lamp to a 20kK lamp. Any pics?
