My zoos are getting whilted: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1272078&perpage=25&pagenumber=1

I'm currently treating for zoo pox.

It isn't working.

I went to do the third treatment, and look what i found...

its an asterina munching on my zoo polyp.

so now i'm wondering if all those white marks are really just starfish bites.

Hmmm, Is this a predator on zoanthids ? Or is it just cleaning up after other problems ? I'm not being facetious, I really never heard that asterinia starfish fed on zoanthids..

I put all my zoos into my qt and have been using furan 2 on them. i expected to see SOME change in the white dots on the bodies. nothing changed whatsoever. Now, i catch this thing in the act, and there's no other damage to this zoo.

i've heard of asterinas eating SPS, eating coralline, can't be that far of a jump to include zoos

Some of them in my 120 like munching on zoas. I can
tch them more often at night. Also during the day after a new frag has been in the tank a couple days.

i just pulled two more off of polyps. how did these things survive being freshwater dipped with furan 2 for 20 mins 2 days in a row?

I hate those little SOB's! I have a Harlequin shrimp that does a pretty good job on them. They can come out of no where and they multiply like crazy.

I also forgot to mention to you that you dont want intense 5500k light on them after a dip. Actinic or no lights would be best

How much Furan are you using in the FW dip and for how long. Good luck with you zoas!

i've been dipping after the lights go out, so by the morning they s/b fine no?

i've been using 2 cups RO water, 2 packets of furan-2.

i'm a tad concerned about the harlequin shrimp because i do have a red serpent star that i don't want bothered. i guess i'll just have to keep pulling out the asterinas as i find them.
